Ottawa, Ont. (August 30, 2025) – The Carleton Ravens women’s rugby team kicked off their season with a dominant 26-0 victory over McGill on Saturday afternoon.
Carleton controlled the tempo early, pinning the Martlets deep in their own territory for much of the first half. The pressure finally paid off late in the half when Sierra Hasse (St-Lazare, Que.) powered over the line to open the scoring.
The Ravens carried their momentum into the second half and came out flying.
After a resilient McGill defense held Carleton up twice near the line, Hasse picked the ball from a ruck and muscled her way in for her second try of the match. Zoe Nield added to the tally, taking a switch pass from McKenna Taylor (Sterling, Ont.), cutting back across the seam, and sprinting in for the score.
Hasse completed her first career hat trick late in the match, capping off a stellar performance. Nield, who attempted all four conversions, went three-for-four and finished the afternoon with 11 points.
With the win and five points in the standings, the Ravens now turn their attention to hosting Concordia on Friday, September 5. The Stingers are 0-1 after falling 24-7 to Laval on Friday night.
