MONTREAL (October 19, 2025) - The Carleton Ravens baseball team came within two wins of defending their 2025 Canadian National University Championship over the weekend, falling 4-2 to the Toronto Varsity Blues in game one of the final.
The Ravens entered the finals from the repechage side of the bracket, after losing their second round game 8-0 to Guelph. The Ravens had a big bounce back after their first loss downing UdeM 14-3 before beating McGill 4-1.
In the double-elimination tournament, the Ravens got a second chance at the Guelph Gryphons after they lost to Toronto in the semifinals, taking down Guelph 9-8 to enter the finals. Carleton would need to win two straight to beat the undefeated Varsity Blues, with Toronto entering the finals having won 14 straight games, including the OUA final the week prior.
Toronto would break the 2-2 tie in the bottom of the sixth with a pair of RBI off the bat of Ryan Hsu before Tyson Espiritu Santo closed the door.
The Ravens have reached back-to-back CNUC championship games, claiming victory over Guelph in 2024.
