Carleton's Junior Varsity rowers started the competition well, with Sonia Odultola and Ainsley Salmon earning the team's first podium with a second-place finish in the Junior Varsity Women's Double Scull event.
When the varsity competition hit the water in the afternoon, Carleton quickly demonstrated their top form with Rosie O'Brien earning the top seed in Saturday's Women's Lightweight Single final with almost a full 2-second lead on the field. O'Brien and partner Hayley Murray finished second in their Women's Doubles heat with the sixth-best overall time in the field of 13.
Coming off a victory at the Head of the Charles last weekend, the Ravens Varsity Women's Coxed Four finished second in their heat, posting the second-best overall time in the 11-boat field ahead of Saturday.
The Ravens' men's Lightweight Coxed Fours finished in a time of 6:53.140, good enough to earn them a spot in Saturday's A Final. The team of Seth Basler, James Sheridan, Cameron Burston, David Badekin and Magnus Abdelnour will race out of lane 2.
The OUA Championship Finals are scheduled to begin on Saturday, October 25, at 8:30 am.
