OTTAWA - The Carleton Ravens women's soccer team's 2025 season came to an end on Wednesday night as the team suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of the Ottawa Gee-Gees.
The Ravens found themselves behind quickly, struggling to find moment and finding themselves down 1-0 just 9 minutes into the contest as Nibo Diamini got the Gee-Gees on the board early.
The Ravens never clicked into a rhythm in the first half, struggling in the middle third of the park and not being able to connect on long balls as the Gee-Gees' back line sagged and bent perfectly to keep the Ravens at bay. While managing two shots in the half, the Ravens never earned a corner while conceding five.
Carleton pressed throughout the second half, looking to create something. But Ottawa's continued stingy defence was difficult for Carleton to beat, as the Ravens managed only three shot attempts with their season on the line. Looking to open things up in the middle of the half, Carleton paid the price. Claire Sun connected with Sabrina Mangiaracina, who hammered a shot high and through the hands of Chloe Lachance-Soulard.
Two-nil didn't prove to be the worst lead for the Gee-Gees; the visitors were able to shut down the Ravens the rest of the way, ending their season and coach Dominic Oliveri's tenure as head coach.
As the season closes, the Ravens say goodbye to a wealth of veterans who are graduating from the program, including captain Mikayla Moser, keeper Chloe Lachance-Soulard, forward Lauren Illman, and midfielder Sydney Atwell, among others.
