The Carleton Ravens men’s basketball team continued their strong start to the season with back-to-back wins, defeating Queen’s 86–78 on Saturday and Ontario Tech 72–53 on Sunday.
The Ravens bounced back from a loss to Laurentian last Saturday, led by a dominant performance from Marjok Okado, who poured in 27 points on 8-of-16 shooting. The Ravens controlled the tempo from the opening tip. Carleton built a 7-point lead in the first quarter and maintained their edge throughout, despite a late push from the Gaels. Nelson Cilien added 10 points and 5 rebounds, while Emanuel Milon and Louth-Mohamed Coulibaly each grabbed 8 boards. The Ravens out-rebounded Queen’s 51–22 and scored 22 second-chance points to go along with 38 points in the paint.
In game two of the road trip, Carleton used a balanced attack to build an early lead before pulling away in the fourth quarter. Aubrey Dorey-Havens led all scorers with 26 points, including six three-pointers, and dished out 8 assists. Marjok Okado added 18 points, while Cedric Mbiaba chipped in 11 off the bench. The Ravens shot 58.8% in the fourth quarter, including going 4-for-4 from downtown, and held Ontario Tech to just 35.7% shooting overall. Carleton’s defence was stifling, forcing 14 turnovers and limiting the Ridgebacks to just four made threes on 22 attempts.
With the weekend sweep, Carleton improves to 4–1 on the season and continues to build momentum heading into a pair of games at home this weekend against Laurier and Waterloo.
