The Carleton Ravens men’s hockey team wrapped up a two-game road swing with a high-scoring 6–5 comeback win over RMC on Saturday, following a tough 5–2 loss to McGill the night before.
Carleton fell 5–2 to the McGill Redbirds at McConnell Arena on Friday. Brady Egan and Alex Fournier scored for the Ravens, with Egan adding an assist. Despite a solid second period, Carleton couldn’t overcome McGill’s balanced attack and timely scoring, including two goals from Charles-Antoine Dumont. After collecting back-to-back wins, goaltender Dylan Meilun made 24 saves in the loss.
In a wild contest at Kingston's Constantine Arena, the Ravens erased a 4–1 deficit and exploded for five goals in the third period to secure the win. Nick McCarry led the way with two goals and two assists. McCarry opened the scoring in the third with a beautiful individual effort before the power play did the rest of the work.
David Fournier had a pair of goals and three points, while Alex Johnston and Reese Belton also found the back of the net. A noticeable presence in front of RMC's Michael Davis, Belton was rewarded for his hard work when he redirected a Felix Bedard pass in with 12:54 to play to tie the game, marking his first goal of the season.
Johnston's game-winner came with just 21 seconds to play, putting home a feed from David Fournier for his fourth goal of the year.
Carleton’s power play was lethal, converting five times on 11 opportunities, including four straight in the final frame. Despite a penalty-filled affair, the Ravens outshot RMC 47–24.
Goaltender Tye Austin earned the win with 19 saves, improving his record to 2-5. Austin has now won two of his last three games, despite allowing five goals in back-to-back contests.
Carleton returns home looking to build on Saturday’s momentum and tighten up defensively as the OUA season continues. They host the first-place UQTR Patriotes on Friday at 7:00 PM before welcoming Nipissing on Saturday.
