Ravens Sports Information (DJ Rycroft)
The Carleton Ravens women’s hockey team showcased resilience and offensive firepower over the weekend, heading to overtime twice, including a dramatic 4–3 shootout victory over the Windsor Lancers on Friday night.
After falling behind 3–0 through two periods, the Ravens stormed back in the third with three unanswered goals. Kennedy Vickers opened the scoring for Carleton at 8:14, taking a jailbreak pass from Olivia Oosterbroek and going shortside under the bar for a shorthanded tally. Payton Miller would score a goal four minutes later, and Erica Buckley netted her second of the year to force overtime with under 90 seconds to play. Buckley led the Ravens with a goal and an assist, while Miller also contributed in the shootout, scoring once in regulation and once in the shootout.
Nicole Hunter was the hero in the shootout, scoring in the eighth round to secure the Ravens' first win in four games.
Goaltender Kaitlyn Langille was a steady presence between the pipes, turning aside 30 of 33 shots. Carleton outshot Windsor 37–33, including a dominant second period with 14 shots.
Ravens Fall in Overtime Battle Against Western
The Carleton Ravens women’s hockey team wrapped up their weekend road trip with a hard-fought 2–1 overtime loss to the Western Mustangs on Saturday night at Thompson Arena.
Despite being outshot 39–18, the Ravens stayed competitive throughout the game thanks to a stellar performance from goaltender Kaitlyn Langille, who turned aside 37 shots and kept Carleton within striking distance. Langille’s efforts kept the Mustangs off the scoreboard for nearly two full periods after an early first-period goal.
Down 1–0 entering the third, Carleton found the equalizer at 6:03 when rookie Kacie Corkle netted her first career OUA goal, assisted by captain Avery Krawchuk. The Ravens continued to battle, forcing overtime for the second consecutive night.
Western’s Kate Suitor ended the contest at 3:52 of the extra frame, wristing one far side above the pad of Langille to secure the win for the Mustangs. Carleton’s penalty kill was tested throughout the game, successfully shutting down all four Western power plays, improving to 83.9% on the season.
The weekend split, including Friday’s shootout win over Windsor, highlights the team’s growth and ability to compete in tight games. Discounting an empty net goal by Laurier last weekend, the Ravens have now played in six straight one-goal games, going 2-2-2 while taking four contests to overtime.
The Ravens remain on the road this weekend, facing Laurier on Friday, November 14, before travelling to Guelph on Saturday.
