OTTAWA - Carleton Athletics has named men's hockey goaltender Dyelan Meilun and women's basketball player Abany Deng as the Athletes of the Week presented by Gabriel Pizza for the week of January 5-11, 2026.
Meilun backstopped the Ravens to a 1-1 weekend, making 24 saves in Sunday night's 3-2 win over the UQTR Patriotes. Meilun was critical in keeping the game close in the first before slamming the door in the third as the Ravens jumped back into the win column.
This marks the second time Meilun has earned Athlete of the Week this season.
Second-year forward Abany Deng continues to be a force on the interior for the Ravens. On Friday, Deng was a point short of a double-double with 10 rebounds, 9 points and 4 blocks. Saturday, this trend continued as she hauled in 8 rebounds, scoring 7 points and recording 3 blocks.
Deng leads the OUA in shooting percentage at 60.8 percent. Midway through the season, Deng's 1.9 blocks per game is tied with Heathder Lindsay as the highest percentage in program history.
