Carleton Ravens men's soccer alumni Matteo de Brienne has been invited to join Soccer Canada's 20-man squad for a 10-day training camp. The preparatory camp aims to support Canada's preparations for the FIFA World Cup 26.
Matteo will be among a mix of Canadian household names, including Richie Laryea, Jonathan Osoria and Jacob Shaffelburg. The camp concludes with a Tier 1 international fixture against Guatemala at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles, on January 17, 2026.
Matteo de Brienne made an immediate impact in his one-and-only season with the Ravens in 2021, helping the team reach the U SPORTS Championship game at TAAG Park. Following the season, the speedy Ottawa product chose to skip the CPL Draft, signing with Valour FC. After spending time in Winnipeg, de Brienne joined his hometown club, Atletico Ottawa, before transitioning to play in Sweden with GAIS.
Should he see minutes on January 17, de Brienne will be the first Ravens player ever to reach the CANMNT.
