A packed schedule headlines the second week of January as top U SPORTS competition rolls through Carleton University. The Ravens host a full flight of games in the Ravens' Nest and at the Advanced Capital Ice House, headlined by Y2K Night on Friday.
The women's hockey team (4-10-2) kick off a packed home weekend with a visit from Windsor (7-8-2) on Friday at 11:30 AM. The Ravens came from behind to knock off Windsor early in the season. Carleton is looking for a bounce-back game after a late third-period loss at Nipissing last Saturday.
Saturday night, the Ravens welcome the Queen's Gaels (13-3-1 / #9) to the Advanced Capital Ice House. The matchup is the first meeting of the season between the OUA East Rivals before they'll meet again next Friday, January 23, in a School Day matinee in Kingston.
Rookie Erica Buckley remains first in the OUA in rookie goal scoring (6) and third in points (8), just three points back of Jada Wood of Queen's in second.
A retro night and Top 10 matchups headline the weekend in the Ravens' Nest. Friday, the women's basketball (8-4) team will open Y2K Night when they host UofT (4-8). The Blues are led by Zi Wang, who is second in the OUA behind Carleton's Abany Deng in shooting percentage, and by OUA minutes per game leader Lia Barieri.
Ravens guard Kyana-Jade Poulin, and the rest of Carleton's versatile attack, will need to be at their best Saturday when the TMU Bold (11-1 / #5) come to town. Poulin enters the weekend fifth in OUA scoring with 18.9 points per game, 1.9 points behind TMU's Myriam Kone. A rematch of the 2025 OUA semifinals, the Ravens will look to extend their five-game win streak over TMU, which dates back to January 21, 2023.
Men's basketball (10-7 / #7) will be looking to bounce back from its second loss of the season on Friday when Toronto (7-5) visits. The Varsity Blues enter off a win over York, while Carleton took their first loss since November 1 on Saturday. Coach Taffe Charles has emphasized the need to improve their play at home, after suffering both their losses this season in the Nest.
On Saturday, the Ravens welcome Aaron Rhooms and the TMU Bold (10-2 / #4). Rhooms is currently fifth in the OUA with 19.3 points per game. The game may come down to who distributes the ball better, in which case, it will be a battle between Carleton's Aubrey Dorey-Havens and TMU's Kevin Toth. The pair are tied for third in the OUA with 63 assists each through the first 12 contests.
After a solid home win Sunday over the UQTR Patriotes (14-4-1 / #8), the Ravens take to the road on Friday to face Nipissing (9-6-3). It's a critical matchup for the Ravens, as they sit six points behind the fifth-place Lakers in the OUA East standings. The Ravens already hold two wins over Nipissing and could lock up the season series with a win.
Sunday night, Carleton returns home for their second straight Sunday soiree. The Ravens welcome RMC (2-16-2) with a chance to climb up the OUA standings. Things are never as easy as they seem with the gritty Paladins - their two wins this season have come over Carleton and Ottawa (11-5-2 / #6).
Carleton's scoring has balanced out in recent weeks, with more players jumping onto the scoresheet. Now, four Ravens have 10 or more points, with Brady Egan and Reese Belton knocking on the door at 9 and 7 points, respectively.
