Familiar rivals headline the opening of the second half of the 2025-26 season as Ravens basketball welcomes Queen's while hockey faces Eastern rivals.
Finishing the first half of the season ranked number one, the Ravens men's basketball team (#4 / 9-1) opens against Queen's (6-5) on Friday. The Ravens dropped the Gaels 86-78 in November, but it's been a wild back-and-forth over the last five years with Carleton leading the head-to-head 7-5. Ravens' guard Aubrey Dorey-Havens leads the conference with 36 three-point field goals, including a program record-tieing 9 against Western (#3 / 10-1) before the break.
In the early game, the Ravens women's basketball team (7-3) will look to avenge one of their three first-half losses when they host Queen's (#5 / 11-0). Ravens guard Kyana-Jade Poulin has led the way in the first half, third in the OUA in assists and fourth in points and points per game. Poulin's not alone; first-year Tyanne Matosas-Adderley leads all OUA rookies with a 36.1% three-point percentage, tied for second in U SPORTS.
Not to be overlooked, the Ravens host Ontario Tech on Saturday night, with the Ridgebacks women (0-11) playing at 6:00 PM and the men (5-6) in at 8:00 PM.
Ravens men's hockey (6-10-1) open the second half five points behind the Queen's Gaels for the sixth and final playoff spot. Carleton will need to slay a few dragons in their opening weekend as they face Far East rivals McGill (9-5-1-1) on Friday night before hosting the UQTR Patriotes (#5 / 13-3-1) at the Advanced Capital Ice House on Sunday night. The Ravens will need to find some secondary scoring in the second half. Nick McCarry currently accounts for a quarter of the team's goals with a career-high 10.
Women's hockey looks to keep pace with the OUA East playoff race when they head North to face Nipissing Saturday. Carleton enters the second half of the season three points back on Ontario Tech, who hold the fifth and final playoff spot. While the Ridgebacks have a game in hand, the Ravens were rolling ahead of the break, picking up points in two of their last three games, while also staging a pair of third-period comebacks and knocking off the first-place Guelph Gryphons in November.
Rookie Erica Buckley has been a key part of Carleton's surge. The first-year forward from Aurora scored in three straight games before the break and leads all OUA rookies with 6 goals. Buckley and the Ravens face the Lakers at 7:00 PM on OUA TV.
