The Carleton Ravens held level with the Nipissing Lakers through 55 minutes on Saturday night before seeing two points slip away. Three goals in the final 4:01 were the difference as the Lakers shut out Carleton 3-0.
The Ravens' penalty kill held strong through their first times short-handed, but number six proved to be unlucky as Jill Hennessy beat Kaitlyn Langille with 4:01 to play to take the lead.
The Lakers would stun the Ravens again just 10 seconds later, with Megan Hayhurst netting her first of the year to double the lead.
Pushing hard to mount a comeback, the Ravens would take a costly body contact penalty with just over 90 seconds to go. Thankfully, Carleton was able to draw a penalty off the ensuing faceoff, but they couldn't beat Alexandra Lehmann in the Nipissing goal. Abby Lunney added an empty net goal in the final minute as the Lakers took down the Ravens 3-0.
The Ravens outshot the Lakers 22-16, but came away on the losing end to open 2026. Carleton's power play went 0-6 on the evening as the former Ravens goaltender Lehmann stood tall for the Lakers.
The Ravens remain just five points back of TMU for the fifth and final playoff spot in the OUA East. They'll look to make up ground when they host Windsor on Friday in a special School Day Game. The 11:30 AM puck drop will be the first school-day game hosted at the Advanced Capital Ice House during Coach Stacey Colarossi's tenure with the program.
The Ravens will also welcome the OUA East leading Queen's Gaels on Saturday night with a regular 7:00 PM puck drop.
Tickets for both games are on sale now!
