The Ravens women's hockey team are facing Queen's (14-4-0-1 / #10) for the second straight weekend. After falling 3-2 in a hard-fought battle at home Saturday, Carleton drops the puck with the Gaels at 11:30 AM on Friday. On Saturday, the Ravens play another early start when they face the Waterloo Warriors (12-6-1 / #6) with a 4:00 PM faceoff.
The Ravens lost their home opener to the Warriors back in October, but have been gaining momentum since November, gaining 9 of their 12 points in the second half of the season. Sitting nine points behind a playoff spot, the Ravens need to continue gaining points rapidly to keep pace with Ontario Tech, as the Ridgebacks hold the final playoff spot in the East.
Carleton kept their momentum alive on Friday, holding off a late comeback from Windsor to pick up a 4-3 shootout win in front of a boisterous school day crowd. The Ravens continued to battle hard Saturday night, erasing a 2-0 Gaels lead to enter the third period tied. The pace picked up in the third with the two teams battling back and forth, but Sophy Alfred's goal gave the Gaels the final advantage.
Vicky Kay picked up athlete of the week honours for her strong play over the weekend, collecting an assist on Friday before scoring a goal and an assist on Saturday. Kay now has 8 points, including five in the last six games.
