Carleton Ravens guard Nelson Cilien has been named the conference's Defensive Player of the Year. A two-time U SPORTS champion, Cilien's win marks the tenth time a Ravens player has been named Defensive Player of the Year and first since Marcus Anderson won the award back-to-back in 2017-18 and 2018-19.
Also honoured by the OUA were First Team All-Star Aubrey Dorey-Havens and Third Team All-Star Marjok Okado.
Facing the OUA's top players night in and night out, Nelson Cilien was the engine for the Top 10-ranked Ravens' defence. A hard-nosed defender, Cilien kept opposing stars in check while averaging 4.0 rebounds per game and committing fewer than 2 fouls per night.
Dorey-Havens made headlines in November when he tied a program record with 9 threes in a single game, though his impact went far further. The third-year guard stepped into the starting point guard spot and quickly made an impact, hitting 56 threes and finishing fifth in the conference in assists with 99. Dorey-Havens's 2.4 assist-to-turnover ratio was also fourth-best in the conference.
Okado finished the OUA regular season ranked second with 59 threes while sitting just outside of the top ten with 342 points. The sharpshooter from Calgary passed 1,000 points in his career with an overtime three-pointer against Brock on February 8.
