Despite help all around the OUA schedule over the weekend, a pair of losses this weekend has created a dangerous environment for the Ravens men's hockey team's playoff hopes. After dropping back-to-back decisions to UQTR on Friday and McGill on Sunday, the Ravens remain three games outside of a playoff spot entering the home stretch of their season.
The Ravens got off to a perfect start on Friday night, with Alex Johnston scoring his ninth of the season just 1:11 into the contest. Despite two more chances on the power play in the opening frame, it was the Pats who led the shot count with a heavy 17-7 lead.
All that UQTR pressure finally cracked the dam in the second as Edouard Cournyer beat Dylan Meilun on the power play to tie the game at one. With just under two minutes to play in the second Olivier Boutin scored his third of the season to give UQTR the lead entering the third.
Carleton battled with a flurry of chances late in the third period, but Pier-Olivier Roy was able to turn a loose puck into a rush towards the empty net, icing any hope of a Ravens comeback as UQTR downed the Ravens 3-1.
With a day and a half off, the Ravens got some help in the standings on Saturday, but it didn't turn into momentum on Sunday. Alexi Van Houtte-Cachero and Xavier Fortin scored breakaway goals in the first before Nicolas Pavan ripped a shot over the blocker shoulder of Meilun in the final 40 seconds of the first to make it 3-0 at the break.
Despite starting the second with a power play, wet ice slowed any opportunity for Carleton to build momentum, and Thomas Belzile made it 4-0 five minutes into the second. The Redbirds would add two more before the period was over and led 6-0 entering the third.
The Ravens never quit, but with wet ice again to start the third and a pair of penalties midway through the period, Carleton was unable to beat Nicolas Ruccia until the final minute of the third.
With the pair of losses, the Ravens remain two points behind Nipissing for the sixth and final playoff spot in the OUA East. Carleton travels to Concordia on Friday night to face the top-ranked Concordia Stingers. Carleton is back home on Wednesday, February 11, 2026, when they host McGill again for Senior Night.
