With just two weeks to go until the RSEQ conference championships, part of the Carleton Ravens Track and Field Team made the long trip to the fast track in Windsor for the Lancers Team Challenge.
Rose Basu led the way with a PB in the 60m heats, which she just missed bettering in the final. Relay teammate Michaella Appiah-Kubi set personal bests in the 60m and 300m, creating a scenario that could see both ladies in the conference meet short and long sprint finals. Although Aria MacDonald missed her 600m PB by a feather’s breadth, she did auto-qualify for the championships.
On the men’s side Ali Afshar ran a personal best in the 1,000m to consolidate his claim to a lane at the upcoming RSEQ championships.
The final qualifying meet of the season takes place on Valentine’s Day, closer to home, just across the border at St Lawrence University. The Ravens relay teams will be looking to hone their baton passing, and individual event competitors will use the event to sort out last-minute technical details before the RSEQ Championships at McGill on February 20-21.
