A small flock from the Carleton Ravens women’s track and field team winged their way to Boston this past weekend for the speedy ovals at the Boston University John Thomas Terrier Classic and the Harvard University Invitational.
Leading the charge was third-year student Rose Basu, who clocked a new PB at Harvard of 7.61s to make the final and inch closer to a new University record and qualification for the U SPORTS Championships. The day before, she set a lifetime best in the 200m of 24.92s on the short track at the Terrier Classic, eclipsing her previous personal record set on a much wider standard outdoor track.
The potential for the Ravens women’s 4x200m relay looks particularly bright. Michaella Appiah-Kubi joined her relay partner in setting her own 200m personal best by running 25.55 at the Terrier Classic. Add these two accelerating speedsters to the breakout meet the rest of the team had earlier at McGill and RSEQ hardware looks like a distinct possibility. Indeed, the same story holds for the women’s 4x400m team thanks to a pair of PBs laid down by Aria MacDonald in the 400m at the Terrier Classic and the 500m at Harvard.
Next stop for the Ravens track and field team is the Windsor Lancers Team Challenge on February 7, 2026.
