The Carleton Ravens women's basketball team improved their current win streak to four games as they look to secure a home playoff game.
The Ravens continued to establish more consistency in their shooting on Friday night, jumping out to a 21-14 lead over Lakehead in the opening 10 minutes. By midway through the second, the Ravens led by 15. Every time the Thunderwolves tried to climb back in, Carleton had an answer on offence.
After trailing by 21 points at the half, the Thunderwolves tried to threaten Carleton's lead but could only claw to within 13 after three. The Ravens veterans went to work in the fourth, with Jacqueline Urban and Kyana-Jade Poulin combining for 13 points as Carleton shut down the Lakehead comeback and extended their win streak to three.
The Ravens used Saturday to travel North to Sault Ste. Marie for a rare 10:00 AM contest with Algoma. The Ravens didn't let the early start bother them, jumping out to a 10-0 lead before Algoma rallied back. Algoma heated up with five threes in the quarter to cut the lead to three at the first break.
The Ravens settled back in in the second as Algoma's shooting stalled out. Kyana-Jade Poulin had six points while Hannah Beattie added four points and 6 rebounds in the quarter. Carleton would remain locked in during the third quarter, extending their lead to 57-37.
When all was said and done, Kyana-Jade Poulin led all Ravens with 19 points in 25 minutes, while Jacqueline Urban had 15 rebounds.
