The Carleton Ravens women’s basketball team will come home with silver for the second consecutive season, after falling 75-60 to the TMU Bold on Saturday evening.
The Ravens were behind the eight-ball early, trailing by 8 after the opening quarter. The Ravens shot only 4-18 in the first, including 0-5 from deep. Kyana-Jade Poulin and Abany Deng each had four points for the Ravens, but Myriam Kone had 6, Kait Nichols had 5, and the Bold shot 40% from the field.
Carleton improved in the second, outscoring TMU and cutting the lead to six at the half. All-Rookie Tyanne Matosas-Adderley caught fire, scoring 10 points in the quarter, while Jacqueline Urban had 8 points and 6 rebounds. The Ravens took advantage of a 13-8 rebound advantage to lead the quarter.
The intermission stunted the Ravens' momentum. Myriam Kone had 12 points in the third, while the Ravens managed just 13 as a team. Abany Deng continued to play a huge role inside, scoring 6 points while Poulin had 6 rebounds.
The Ravens matched the Bold shot-for-shot in the fourth, but it wasn’t enough as they were never able to close the gap.
Tyanne Matosas-Adderley led all Ravens with 16 points while Jacqueline Urban had a double-double with 14 rebounds and 10 points.
Despite the loss, the Ravens now set their sights on the U SPORTS Final 8 in Quebec City, QC, March 5-8. The Ravens will find out their tournament seed and first-round opponent on Sunday afternoon.
