ALMATY, KAZAKHSTAN — On Day 10 of the 2017 Winter Universiade, Carleton’s Hannah Schmidt (Dunrobin, ON) and Carrington Pomeroy (Chelsea, QC) of Canada’s Alpine and Cross-Country ski teams took part in some of the final races of the FISU competition.

On Monday, Schmidt and her Canadian teammates raced in their final competition of the Winter Universiade, with four members of the red and white finishing the race in the top 30.
Schmidt completed the day with a combined two-lap time of 1:37.51, which placed her 23rd in the field. Overall, the Canadians had some of their best Alpine results in Almaty.
CROSS COUNTRY SKIING
Carrington Pomeroy joined his three teammates for the men’s 4 x 7.5 km relay, where the Canadians finished in 11th place in 1:22:52.2. Canada jumped from 13th to 12th to 11th at each exchange, showing excellent poise to leapfrog several teams over the course of the race.
Pomeroy and his teammates will suit up one more time on February 8 in the 30km Mass Start event at the Alatau Cross-Country Skiing & Biathlon Complex.
