Week Ending December 6, 2015
Brett Welychka (London, ON) had a sensational weekend for the Ravens men’s hockey team as he led Carleton to two victories to close out 2015. The first-year player was instrumental in the Ravens’ double over Nipissing and RMC.
On November 4, Welychka added two helpers as the Ravens cruised to a 4-1 victory over the Lakers at the Ice House. The following day, Carleton travelled to Kingston to take on the Paladins for the final game before the holiday break. The 5’10” forward quickly found his groove as he buried an unassisted goal in the first, followed by two assists in the second period. The former Memorial Cup champion then potted his 10th goal of the season midway through the third period to cap off a 4-point night. It was Welychka’s third 4-point game of the season and his ninth multi-point outing in a Ravens jersey.
In only his first season with the Ravens, Welychka is currently leading the team in scoring with 29 points (10 G, 19 A) through 16 games, which places him in a two-way tie for second in the OUA scoring charts.
Brett is enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts program at Carleton.
