Carleton Ravens men’s basketball player Connor Wood (Guelph, ON) is this week’s TSN 1200 Male Athlete of the Week.
Wood, a 6-foot-4 guard, continued his outstanding season with a pair of dynamic displays in his team’s two lopsided wins over the Queen’s Gaels and York Lions on the weekend.
In Friday’s 93-50 victory over the Gaels, Wood scored a team high 17 points to go along with eight rebounds, two assists and a steal. On Saturday, Carleton’s 114-50 win over York saw Wood pour in 20 points (7-9 FG) while adding three rebounds and four assists in only 15 minutes of court time.
Wood is currently averaging a career-best 19.5 points per game through 17 regular-season matchups in 2016-17.
Connor, a fifth-year senior, studies Psychology at Carleton University.
Carleton Ravens women’s fencer Sharon Schuppe (South Burlington, VT) is this week’s TSN 1200 Female Athlete of the Week.
Schuppe had a series of fantastic performances at the 2017 OUA Women’s Fencing Championship hosted by Queen’s University from February 11-12.
On Saturday, Schuppe, a fourth-year student-athlete, entered the individual Foil event as the Ravens’ only participant, coming away with a bronze medal in her non-traditional discipline.
In Sunday’s team relays, Schuppe, along with her teammates Emese Dukai and Madelyn Krasnay, captured first place in the Team Epee competition for the program’s fourth gold medal in the event in the past five years.
Sharon, a Public Affairs and Policy Management major, was also named a 2017 OUA Women’s Fencing Championship All-Star.
