Third year Carleton Ravens Nordic skier, Leeland Hawkings, impressed at the OUA Championships this weekend, leading the men’s team to a silver medal. The Whitehorse native finished the two-day event with three medals. On Saturday, he took home a bronze medal in the 10km classic with a time of 26:02.7, 35.6 seconds back of the leader. He was also part of the relay team that captured silver. On Sunday, he earned another silver medal, this time in the 15km freestyle, with a time of 39:27.5, 6.1 seconds back of the leader. Following his outstanding performance at the championships, Hawkings was named an OUA all-star.
Nordic Skiing
In just her first season with the Carleton Ravens Nordic ski team, Kendra Murray made a huge impact, helping the women bring home silver at the OUA Championships this weekend. The Whitehorse native captured three medals in the two-day event. On Saturday, she took home bronze in the 5km classic with a time of 15:22.0, 31 seconds back of the leader. She was also part of the relay team that won silver. On Sunday, she captured bronze in the 10km freestyle with a final time of 31:39.1, 20.1 seconds back of first. Following her outstanding performance at the championships, Murray was named an OUA all-star.
