Week Ending February 8, 2016
Ravens Nordic skier Carrington Pomeroy (Chelsea, QC) had a standout performance at the 2016 Eastern Canadian Championships held this past weekend at the Nakkertok Ski Centre in Gatineau, QC.
Competing in the team’s second event of the season, Pomeroy captured a second-place finish in the men’s university category. Pomeroy, a third-year member of the team, has worked tirelessly to take the next step as a top-level competitor for the Ravens in 2015-16.
Along with his teammates, Pomeroy will look to produce another strong showing for the Ravens at the OUA Championships later this month. Carleton University will serve as the host of the event which will take place Nakkertok Cross Country Ski Club from February 19-21, 2016.
Carrington is an Environment Studies student at Carleton.
Thanks in large part to the outstanding contribution of women’s basketball forward Heather Lindsay (Ottawa, ON), the Carleton Ravens were victorious over the Ottawa Gee-Gees at the MBNA Capital Hoops Classic on February 5 at the Canadian Tire Centre.
Lindsay, a third-year player, completely dominated in the 73-50 win over uOttawa. The 6-foot-3 forward successfully tallied her seventh double-double of the season by finishing with 18 points (6-10 FG, 6-6 FT) and 15 rebounds, as well as adding 2 blocks on the defensive end.
Lindsay’s 12 rebounds in the opening half equalled the entire output of the Gee-Gees through the first two quarters. Lindsay continues to prosper in her breakout junior campaign, as she ranks seventh in OUA scoring (15.5 PPG) and second overall in rebounding (10.0 RPG).
Heather is enrolled in the Environmental Studies program at Carleton.
