Carleton Ravens men’s basketball player Eddie Ekiyor (Ottawa, ON) is the TSN 1200 Male Athlete of the Week.
Ekiyor, a first-year forward, put together a pair of impressive performances in two wins against division foes Nipissing and Laurentian over the weekend. On January 13 versus the Lakers, Ekiyor started his first game as a Raven and finished with a line of 14 points (7-12 FG), nine rebounds, four assists and two steals in 24 minutes of floor time.
The following evening against the Voyageurs, the 6-foot-9 rookie scored 10 points (5-9 FG), while adding seven rebounds and an assist in his second straight starting role.
Ekiyor’s game has grown by leaps and bounds during his debut season, and he currently ranks first on the Ravens in rebounding (7.0 RPG) and is third in scoring (10.9 PPG).
Eddie is enrolled in Psychology at Carleton.
Carleton Ravens women’s basketball player Steph Carr (Stittsville, ON) is the TSN 1200 Female Athlete of the Week.
Carr, a veteran leader on the Ravens, made a solid contribution in her team’s two victories against OUA North rivals Nipissing (January 13) and Laurentian (January 14).
Coming off of the bench in both games, the 5-foot-8 shooting guard posted 15 points (6-9 FG), three rebounds, two assists and three steals in Carleton’s 75-30 win over the Lakers, before going off for a regular-season high 17 points (5-9 3PT-FG), two rebounds, two assists and three steals against the Voyageurs.
Since the start of January, Carr has averaged 10.8 points per game and is shooting 30.6% from beyond the arc.
Steph is majoring in Bio Mechanical Engineering at Carleton.
