Ravens captain Joey West (Orleans, ON) was a key figure in helping the men’s hockey team sweep a home-and-home series against the Concordia Stingers over the weekend.
On Jan. 22, the visiting Ravens defeated the Stingers, 4-3, at Ed Meagher Arena. West helped setup the team’s second goal and he followed that up by scoring the crucial OT winner, his third game-winning goal of the season. The following night, West contributed another goal in Carleton’s 4-1 home win at the Ice House.
West is currently riding a 7-game point streak dating back to Dec.5 against RMC. The former Peterborough Pete has scored 22 points this season, leaving him just two points shy of tying his personal best of 24 points set in the 2013-14 season.
Joey, a fourth-year student-athlete, is enrolled in Commerce at Carleton’s Sprott School of Business.
Women’s basketball forward Lindsay Shotbolt (Markham, ON) had her best two-game stretch of the 2015-16 season in Carleton’s weekend trip to Toronto.
Despite losing to Ryerson on Jan. 22, Carleton’s team captain had a team-high 13 points (also a season best) and 6 rebounds against the Rams. Shotbolt continued her strong play with 7 points, 8 rebounds and 3 assists in a season-high 22 minutes of floor time in a win over the Varsity Blues on Jan.23.
Since recovering from a knee injury that hampered her stellar 2014-15 campaign, Shotbolt has progressed well this season by starting in all but one of her nine regular season appearances.
Lindsay, a fourth-year player, is enrolled in the Communications program at Carleton.
