Carleton Ravens men’s basketball player Kaza Kajami-Keane is the TSN 1200 Male Athlete of the Week.
Kajami-Keane played an instrumental role in leading the Ravens to their seventh consecutive national title at the 2017 U SPORTS Men’s Final 8 Basketball Championships in Halifax, NS from March 9-12.
In three tournament games at the Scotiabank Centre, the fifth-year senior averaged 15.6 points (43.6 FG%), 6.6 assists and 6.3 rebounds per game in victories over the Calgary Dinos (QF), McGill Redmen (SF) and Ryerson Rams (gold medal game).
For his efforts, Kajami-Keane was named a tournament all-star and the recipient of the prestigious Jack Donohue Award as U SPORTS Men’s Final 8 Basketball Championship MVP.
Kaza, a native of Ajax, ON, will complete a degree in Communications in the spring.
Carleton Ravens women’s basketball player Catherine Traer is this week’s TSN 1200 Female Athlete of the Week.
Traer, a fourth-year forward, had an outstanding performance at the 2017 U SPORTS Women’s Final 8 Basketball Championship in Victoria, BC, helping the Ravens capture bronze for the program’s first-ever nationals medal.
As the only Carleton player with previous Women’s Final 8 experience, Traer stepped up by leading the Ravens in scoring in all three games where she averaged 19 points (43.2 FG%), 4.7 rebounds, 1.7 assists and 1.7 blocks. Despite losing in the semifinal to McGill, Traer and the Ravens rebounded to defeat Queen’s in the third-place game.
Traer was named to the U SPORTS Women’s Final 8 All-Tournament team.
Catherine, who hails from Chelsea, QC, is working towards a master’s degree in Political Science.
