Week Ending March 26, 2017
Carleton Ravens Nordic skier Aidan Kirkham (Kanata, ON) is this week’s TSN 1200 Male Athlete of the Week.
Kirkham, a first-year team member, was the top male competitor for the Ravens at the Canadian College and University National Championships (CCUNC) from March 18-25 in Canmore, AB.
After an outstanding OUA Championships performance at the end of February, Kirkham continued to race like a veteran at the CCUNCs, finishing the week with two medals, including a silver in the 15km medium interval and a bronze in the 10km short interval.
Kirkham, an Environmental Science major, was named a 2017 CCUNC All-Canadian after leading the Ravens men’s team to a second-place finish overall.
Carleton Ravens Nordic skier Zoë Williams (Cantley, QC) is this week’s TSN 1200 Female Athlete of the Week.
Williams, a second-year Raven, was the top performer for the women’s team at the Canadian College and University National Championships (CCUNC) from March 18-25 in Canmore, AB.
Following an OUA Championships that saw the sophomore win three medals (2 individual, 1 team) and help Carleton capture the conference banner for a second consecutive year, Williams raced her way to a bronze medal in the 5km short interval along with two more top-ten finishes at the CCUNCs.
Williams, a Neuroscience and Mental Health student, was the recipient of 2017 CCUNC All-Canadian honours as Carleton ended the weekend in fourth place.
