Week Ending March 6, 2016
Connor Wood (Guelph, ON) is this week’s Carleton Ravens TSN 1200 Male Athlete of the Week.
Wood, a fourth-year guard, scored a career-high 37 points in a 90-53 OUA quarter-final playoff victory over CIS No.8 Brock on March 5. The 6-foot-4 veteran was on fire with a 13-for-17 shooting performance, including 5-for-8 on three-point attempts, and 6-6 from the foul line. Wood also had 6 rebounds in the win, tying him for the team lead in the game.
Wood’s previous career-high scoring night came back in January 2013 against York, when he dropped 32 points on the Lions. With the win over the Badgers, Wood and the Ravens will move on to the OUA Final Four at Ryerson University (March 11-12) where the team will take on the Ottawa Gee-Gees in the conference semi-finals on Friday.
Connor is an Economics major at Carleton University.
Lindsay Shotbolt (Markham, ON) is this week’s Carleton Ravens TSN 1200 Female Athlete of the Week.
Shotbolt, the women’s basketball captain, was the top player for the Ravens in the team’s recent playoff game against Windsor. The fourth-year player put together a strong performance with a team-high 8 points and 9 rebounds in 24 minutes of floor time. The 2014-15 OUA Second Team All-Star showed an unmatched determination on the court, coming away with 2 steals and 1 block on the defensive side of the ball.
Despite the team’s elimination from playoff contention, Shotbolt’s level of play was impressive in the final few weeks of the season. She averaged 11.4 points and 8.4 rebounds per contest in the last five games of the season, including the postseason match-up.
Lindsay is enrolled in the Communications program at Carleton University.
