Carleton Ravens men’s basketball player Eddie Ekiyor is this week’s TSN 1200 Male Athlete of the Week.
Ekiyor, a second-year forward, recorded three consecutive double-doubles in Carleton’s wins over U SPORTS No.9 uOttawa, Windsor and Western at the Ravens’ Nest this past week.
On Nov. 14, Ekiyor posted 13 points and 10 rebounds in Carleton’s 74-53 Bytown Battle triumph over the arch-rival Gee-Gees. Last Friday, the 6-foot-9 big man scored a career-high 25 points (7-14 FG) to go along with a game-high 13 boards in the Ravens’ 97-83 win over the Lancers. In Saturday’s 82-61 victory over the Mustangs, Ekiyor dominated in the paint, tallying a game-high 20 points (5-7 FG, 10-11 FT) to go along with a career-high 17 rebounds.
Eddie, a local product from Ottawa, is pursuing an undergraduate degree in Psychology at Carleton University.
Carleton Ravens women’s basketball player Catherine Traer is this week’s TSN 1200 Female Athlete of the Week.
With Traer in excellent form, the No.4 nationally ranked Ravens cruised to three wins over uOttawa, No.5 Windsor and Western in the past seven days.
The fifth-year forward torched her former team for 18 points to go along with six rebounds in Carleton’s 66-36 victory uOttawa on Nov. 14. In the highly-anticipated Top 10 matchup against Windsor on Nov. 17, Traer scored a game-high 13 points in a 70-46 win over the Lancers, adding three rebounds while also coming up with three blocks on the defensive end of the floor. In Carleton’s 71-48 victory over the Mustangs on Nov. 18, Traer was in sensational form, finishing the contest with 11 points, five rebounds, five assists, six steals and two blocks.
Catherine, a native of Chelsea, QC, is working towards a Master of Arts in Political Science at Carleton University.
