Men's Water Polo
Carleton Ravens men’s water polo player Dusan Boskovic is this week’s TSN 1200 Male Athlete of the Week.
The Ravens hosted the 2017 OUA Water Polo Championship over the weekend, where Boskovic was in top form, leading Carleton to a second place finish at the event.
The fifth-year senior powered the Ravens to a 10-2 semifinal victory over Queen’s, scoring five goals in the win. Despite a valiant performance and a goal in the final, Boskovic and the Ravens would fall in defeat to Toronto in the gold medal game.
For all of his efforts, Boskovic was named the championship tournament’s Most Valuable Player.
Dusan, a native of Belgrade, Serbia, is pursuing an Electrical Engineering degree at Carleton.
Women's Water Polo
Carleton Ravens women’s water polo player Rachel Howes is this week’s TSN 1200 Female Athlete of the Week.
Howes provided the host Ravens with the spark they needed to capture a bronze medal at the National Collegiate Water Polo (NCWP) Championship on the weekend.
In the tournament’s opening game, Howes sniped five goals in a 16-2 quarterfinal win over Guelph. The rookie’s goal in the 5-2 semifinal loss against McMaster was not enough for the Ravens, but Howes responded with a two-goal performance in Carleton’s 8-6 third-place showdown with the uOttawa Gee-Gees on the final day.
Howes was the lone Raven to be named a 2017 NCWP Championship All-Star.
Rachel, a native of Ottawa, ON, is studying in Carleton’s Criminology and Criminal Justice program.
