Week Ending November 8th, 2015
Brett Gustavsen (Scarborough, ON) had a couple of standout performances this past weekend at the Carleton Ice House, leading the men’s hockey team in two overtime wins against Brock and York.
On November 6th versus Brock, Gustavsen scored two goals and provided the team with contagious energy at both ends of the rink. His play inspired his teammates to the 5-4 overtime victory over the Badgers. The following night against York, Gustavsen continued his strong two-way play as he added another goal and fought on the penalty kill for the majority of the game. With the Ravens receiving seventeen penalty infractions, the 5-7 forward played some of his best shifts of the weekend to help the Ravens stay in the game. Carleton would eventually go on beat the upstart Lions in double overtime, 4-3.
Brett, a first-year student athlete, is currently enrolled in Arts at Carleton.
Heather Lindsay (Ottawa, ON) was the most dominant player on the court for the Ravens women’s basketball team this weekend, as Carleton collected two straight victories to open a season since 2010-11.
Lindsay posted consecutive double-doubles against Laurentian and Nipissing as she controlled the area inside the paint. The rising junior tallied 17 points and 13 rebounds against a Laurentian team that was double and triple teaming her at times. Lindsay had a monster game against Nipissing on November 7th as the 6-3 forward scored a career-high 29 points, hauled in 13 rebounds and added 4 blocks to lead the team in all three categories. Her 23.0 point per game average currently tops the OUA’s scoring list.
Heather is enrolled in Carleton’s Environmental Studies Program.
