Philip Scrubb (Richmond, BC) was named the Most Valuable Player at the 2013 House-Laughton tournament which was played at the Ravens’ Nest over the weekend. The Commerce major played well in Game 1 against Lakehead (13 pts.), then again in Game 2 versus Bishop’s (20 pts.). Scrubb was particularly impressive during Carleton’s tournament clinching 82-62 victory over the Victoria Vikes on Sunday afternoon. Scrubb finished the game with 24 points, 3 rebounds, 7 assists, 2 steals and was a perfect 5-5 from the free throw line. Scrubb took home MVP honours at the 2011 House-Laughton tournament.
Lindsay Shotbolt (Markham, ON) was the Ravens leading scorer in two of three games at the 2013 Subway Centennial women’s basketball tournament in Halifax, Nova Scotia. In Carleton’s first contest against the host Dalhousie Tigers, Shotbolt registered a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds in a 71-53 Ravens’ victory. The Communications major was on the attack again in Carleton’s third game of the tournament. Shotbolt picked up 14 points in the Ravens 63-62 win over UQAM. Carleton ended the tournament with a 2-1 record, their one loss came at the hands of the Saint Mary’s Huskies 49-38.
