Week Ending October 23, 2016
Carleton Ravens football player Nate Behar (London, ON) is the TSN 1200 Male Athlete of the Week.
Thanks to Behar’s big plays on the field, the Ravens closed out the 2016 regular season with a 43-15 win over Waterloo and clinched a home playoff game in the process.
The fourth-year receiver had 9 catches for 154 yards and 1 touchdown in the victory, which included a 2016 season-long 65-yard TD score early in the first quarter to put the Ravens on the scoreboard.
Behar, who recently featured in the CFL Scouting Bureau’s top-20 list of prospects available for selection in the 2017 Draft, completed the campaign with a Ravens football single-season record of 57 pass receptions, moving ahead of former record holder Marc Dinardo and his 51 receptions hauled in during 1997 season.
Nate is enrolled in Communication Studies at Carleton.
Carleton Ravens women’s basketball player Heather Lindsay (Ottawa, ON) is the TSN 1200 Female Athlete of the Week.
Lindsay, a fourth-year senior, was named the Most Valuable Player of the 11th Annual McKeen Metro Glebe Tournament hosted by Carleton University from October 21-23.
The 6-foot-3 forward was absolutely dominant in the paint throughout the tournament, leading Carleton to an undefeated 3-0 record with wins against Concordia, Thompson Rivers and Queen’s to give the Ravens their first Metro Glebe title since 2012.
Lindsay averaged 13.3 points and 10.6 rebounds per game, while also contributing 2.0 blocks per contest on the defensive end of the floor. The forward’s 19 points and 17 rebounds against Concordia in the opener, as well as her clutch play down the stretch in the championship game against Queen’s, solidified her tournament MVP selection.
Heather studies in Carleton’s Environmental Science program.
