Week Ending September 10, 2017
Carleton Ravens men’s soccer player Gabriel Bitar is this week’s TSN 1200 Male Athlete of the Week.
Bitar, a first-year Raven, showed his first-class touch up front in Carleton’s two victories over Queen’s and RMC on the weekend.
The 5-foot-9 forward scored Carleton’s second goal in the team’s 3-0 triumph over the Gaels on September 9. The next day, Bitar found the back of the net once again before setting up a goal in the Ravens’ 7-1 victory over the RMC Paladins at Navy Bay.
The Ottawa South United product has scored in five of Carleton’s six games so far this season, and his six goals rank him second in scoring in the conference.
Gabriel, who hails from the nation’s capital, is enrolled in the Enriched Support Program at Carleton.
Carleton Ravens rugby player Maureen Foran is this week’s TSN 1200 Female Athlete of the Week.
Foran, who is in her first year at Carleton following two seasons with the Algonquin Thunder, was a force to be reckoned with in the Ravens’ incredible 43-40 victory over the Montreal Carabins on September 9.
The 5-foot-8 centre was consistent on the attack, propelling the Ravens forward and handing her side a 5-0 lead with the game’s opening try.
Foran was Carleton’s best defender on the day, continuously putting pressure on the Carabins and completing each one of her attempted tackles.
Maureen, a native of Ottawa, is working towards a Bachelor of Social Work at Carleton.
