Week Ending September 26, 2016
Jayde Rowe (Scarborough, ON) is this week’s TSN 1200 Carleton Ravens Male Athlete of the Week.
Rowe, a fourth-year transfer from the University of Regina, put on a show at York’s Alumni Field, carrying the ball 21 times for a Carleton football single-game record of 258 rushing yards. He averaged 12.3 yards per carry against the Lions, and scored two touchdowns in the Ravens’ 50-7 road win.
At 5-foot-10 and 219 pounds, Rowe has been hard to bring down this season, as the tailback leads the CIS in rushing with 713 yards gained through five games.
The former Scarborough Thunder (OVFL) player has now rushed for over 160 yards in three of the last four games, and he currently ranks third in the CIS with 142.6 yards per game.
Jayde is enrolled in History at Carleton.
Tori MacFarlane (Kars, ON) is this week’s TSN 1200 Carleton Ravens Female Athlete of the Week.
MacFarlane, a second-year midfielder on the women’s soccer team, was instrumental in the Ravens’ 3-1 win over Laurentian on September 23. Trailing the Voyageurs 1-0 at halftime, Carleton’s No.9 scored the tying goal, before setting up teammate Abby Nicastro for the go-ahead strike. MacFarlane also drew a penalty call for the Ravens which Nicastro buried for the final tally of the day.
Despite drawing the Nipissing Lakers 1-1 on Sunday, it was MacFarlane who notched the game’s opening goal in the 63rd minute, once again contributing offensively for the Ravens and helping the team earn a point.
MacFarlane has shown great versatility this season having featured at forward, midfield and defence this season.
Tori is studying in the Child Studies program at Carleton.
