Women’s Water Polo NCWP Championship: Ravens eliminated by McMaster

KINGSTON, ON — The Carleton Ravens women’s water polo team lost its opening game of the NCWP Championship at Queen’s University of Friday evening. Despite a valiant effort, the Ravens were eliminated from gold medal contenion in a 4-2 loss to the McMaster Marauders.

Carleton will take on city rival uOttawa tomorrow morning in a consolation game at 11:30 a.m.

The Ravens will play their final game of the competition tomorrow evening at 5:20 p.m. against the loser of the semifinal game between top seed Toronto and host Queen’s.

After the first day of action at the NCWP women’s water polo championship McMaster defeated Carleton to advance to the Gold medal game Sunday while the Gaels were big winners over Ottawa 14-8.


Carleton 2, McMaster 4
With a trip straight to the gold medal game on the line it was a close affair between the Ravens and Marauders.

Jorjan Brydges stepped up for the Marauders scoring three of their four goals in the 4-2 win. After Carleton had cut the lead to just 2-1 for McMaster, Brydges scored her third marker to make it 3-1 in the third. In the fourth frame the two sides traded goals and the Marauders booked their spot in the gold medal game Sunday.

Carleton will now take on Ottawa on Saturday at 11:30am.
