MBB | Former Raven Wood off to Europe

Written by Mitchell Dick

One of Carleton’s most prolific basketball alumni is flying off to Europe.

Connor Wood has signed a one year contract with German Pro A League’s Uni Baskets Paderborn for 2018-19.

In his decorated Ravens career, Wood helped capture 5 straight USPORTS banners including 3 provincial Wilson Cup banners along the way. His most awarded year was his 5th season as a Raven when he was named the USPORTS MVP, OUA Player of the Year, USPORTS 1st Team All-Star and OUA 1st Team All-Star.

He has also worn red and white for team Canada on several occasions. Wood has been named to Canada’s FISU Games team in 2015 and 2017 hosted in South Korea and Taiwan, respectively. In addition, Wood has won back to back gold medals with Team Canada at the William Jones Cup in Taiwan in 2017 and 2018.

Germany will not be Wood’s first professional stop. He played the 2017/18 season with the Niagara River Lions of the National Basketball League of Canada, posting 9.3 PPG and 2.9 RPG.
