RAVENS’ NEST, Ottawa – The Carleton Ravens Men’s Basketball defeated the South Dakota State Jackrabbits 83-64 this afternoon. This was their second matchup in three days, as the Ravens blew them out by 62 points Friday night. Carleton stays undefeated in the Can-Am series with a 4-0 record.
Last night the Jackrabbits traveled to the other side of the canal to face-off against the uOttawa Gee-Gees. The Jackrabbits handled them 93-77. SDS was hoping to ride that momentum into today’s game and gain some pride back after Friday’s blowout loss. They outscored the Ravens 22-14 in the first quarter, but then ran out of gas quickly getting outscored 25-12 in the second quarter. It was a chippy game as expected. Both teams had 20+ personal fouls.
Eddie Ekiyor has been huge for the Ravens during the Can-Am series. Today he dominated in the post putting up 35 points and 10 rebound – also going a perfect 11 for 11 from the charity stripe. Munis Tutu had another near-triple double with 15 points, 7 boards, and 9 assists. These two are quickly emerging as leaders of this Carleton Ravens basketball team.

The Ravens Men’s Basketball team is once again garnering attention from American national media. Many people in the Twittersphere are calling for Carleton to be invited to the NCAA March Madness tournament. Whether or not that is a realistic proposition, Cincinnati and South Dakota State are regularly in the tournament, so it’s a conversation at the least.
The Ravens look to finish off the Can-Am Shootout with a perfect record against Maryland Eastern Shore this Tuesday at 7:00pm in the Ravens’ Nest. The Hawks are a lesser known program than the likes of Cincinnati and Ole Miss, having never made an NCAA tournament appearance. The Ravens surely won’t take them likely as they look to go 5-0.
