PETERBOROUGH, Ontario – After turning in some tight defensive efforts in the young 2018 season, the Carleton Raven’s women’s soccer team was able to convert another close game into a win. The Ravens came finished off their second road trip of the season with a 1-0 win over the Trent Excalibur.

The win pushes the Ravens’ record to 1-2-1 on the season and gives them a valuable 3 points to start their climb up the OUA East standings. Trent was one of a handful of teams above Carleton in the standings, but without a regulation win. Beating the teams above them in the standings will put the Ravens in a better position as the team battles toward a playoff spot.

Ravens veteran Sarah Zutrauen broke through early in the 2nd half with her 1st goal of the season. That would be all the Ravens needed as they came away with a clean sheet win.

Things don’t get easier for the Ravens next weekend. They will stay on the road to face the the Toronto Varsity Blues who occupy 2nd place in the OUA East. Now that the Ravens have 4 points on the season, a win or draw would go a long way to bring them closer to the teams at the top of the standings.
