GAME FLOW

The opening minutes of the season were a back and forth affair, but Carleton was soon able to establish a bit of distance. Cynthia Dupont showed some nice moves, knee brace and all, to finish an early drive to the hoop for the score. The long ball was clicking early as well, as threes by Jaclyn Ronson and a pair by Madison Reid allowed Carleton to open up a 17-13 lead after one.

The second quarter saw Carleton’s only returning starter from last year’s team Nicole Gilmore start off with 5 straight points to extend the Carleton lead. Madison Reid stayed hot from downtown by hitting her 3rd three of the game. The end of the quarter saw the Gee-Gees go on a run though, hitting a buzzer beating three to take a 33-32 lead into the break.

uOttawa kept the momentum going out of the locker room en route to a 12-3 run to go up by 10. Carleton slowly chipped away at the lead however, getting it down to just 2 before the quarter was out.

Forward Emma Kiesekamp would tie it up early in the 4th, following her basket up with a big block just moments later. Nicole Gilmore gave the Ravens their first lead since the first half with a layup off a steal shortly after. The Hamilton native would finish with 13 points.

When Ottawa managed to tie things up again, Reid responded by drilling her 4th three of the game, followed by a 5th right after. The 2nd year guard finished with a game high 19 points. uOttawa pushed Carleton late to draw back within 2, but the Ravens made free throws and locked it down on defense to hold on for the narrow 58-56 win.
