PETERBOROUGH, Ontario – A second-half goal by Ricky Comba was all the Ravens needed to down Trent University 1-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The first half started slow, culminating in a 0-0 draw. Excalibur goalkeeper Jacob McPhee kept his side in it throughout the match, making a total of seven saves. However, Comba would put the Ravens on the board after the half in the 59th minute.

“No major adjustments [were made] at halftime,” said Head Coach Kwesi Loney. “We kept a positive mindset, kept possession and had lots of opportunities.”

The Ravens were able to hold the Excalibur off the scoresheet for the last 30 minutes of the match on their way to securing the 1-0 win.

“We played well in our first game with ten days of preparation,” said Loney. “We moved the ball well and executed. Timing was a bit off but overall happy with the start.”

Four Ravens picked up yellow cards in the match, with forward Stefan Karajovanovic being sent off in the 79th minute after receiving his second of the game.

The Ravens will play their second game of the season on Sunday against the Ontario Tech Ridgebacks, starting at 2:15pm.
