KINGSTON, Ontario – The Carleton Ravens defeated the Queen’s Gaels 1-0 on Saturday afternoon, improving their regular season record to 7-0-0.
“I thought it was probably the biggest challenge we’ve had,” said Ravens Head Coach Kwesi Loney. “It was definitely a physical match, so we matched that, were able to score early and just shut the game down from there.”
The Ravens lone goal came in the 16th minute after applying sustained pressure, denying the Gaels any chance of moving upfield. A cross was played in from the left-hand side by Emad Houache to the far post, where it met Stefan Karajovanovic. Karajovanovic picked up the ball and put it past the Gaels’ goalkeeper for his fourth goal of the season.
“Queens is always a tough opposition; we didn’t expect anything different today. For us it’s about creating the right opportunities and moments, we hit the post probably two or three times today. We got some clear-cut chances, just not finishing quite yet, but we’re getting the result [and] clean sheet” added Loney.
The Ravens will return home in anticipation of their match against the RMC Paladins on Sunday, September 22nd at 3:30pm at MNP Park.
