OTTAWA, Ontario – The exhibition battle between the Carleton Ravens and Bishop’s Gaiters brought more than its share of thrills to the Ravens’ Nest. The Ravens went on to win their 2nd game of the McKeen Metro Glebe tournament by a final score of 74-72.
Both sides were relatively neck and neck throughout the first half, with the Ravens having the slight edge on the scoreboard. Carleton was 9-38 from the field through the first twenty minutes, while the visitors were 8-38. Both offences pressed even more in the second half, each shooting above 40%.
When things were said and done after forty minutes, however, the scoreboard read 63-63. The overtime frame mirrored the first four quarters with its fast offensive pace. Ultimately, the game came down to a final second buzzer beater from veteran Raven Alyssa Cerino, who took an in-bounds pass and drove to the hoop for the winning basket.
Two Ravens posted double-doubles on the night: Cerino and newcomer Tatyanna Burke. The Ravens are back in action on Sunday, October 6 as they face Thompson Rivers University at 12pm in the tournament finale.
