OTTAWA, Ontario – The regular season ended with a 6-3 win for the Ravens, topping the Laurentian Voyaguers at the Ice House in their final game before the playoffs begin next week.
For most of the opening period, it looked as though the Ravens and Voyageurs were on pace for a low scoring game. Shots and chances were nearly equal before the Voyageurs broke through on a goal from Ben Morris. With one second remaining in the frame, the Ravens responded with a power play marker from Parker Aucoin (Sturgeon County, AB) to even things at 1-1.
Scoring in the second frame ping-ponged back and forth with both sides scoring 5 in total, all coming in the final 10 minutes. Aaron Boyd gave the Ravens a 2-1 lead before the visitors answered back to tie the game. Shortly after, Darian Skeoch (New Liskeard, ON) and Chiwetin Blacksmith (Waswanipi, QC) scored a few minutes apart to give the Ravens a 2 goal lead. The Voyageurs answered in the final 15 seconds of the period to cut the lead to 4-3.
The Ravens put the game out of reach in the the third period, as Cole Carter (Ottawa, ON) found the back of the net on a 2 on 1. In the dying minutes Dakota Odgers ( Spy Hill, SK) added an empty net goal to seal the win.
The first round of the Queen’s Cup Playoffs await the Ravens next week against the RMC Paladins.
