Q: Why did you decide to attend Carleton?
I’ve decided to go to Carleton because I thought it was the best fit for me, both academically with a great program, and athletically because I’ll be playing for a great soccer team.
Q: What part about playing for the Ravens soccer team are you most looking forward to?
When training with the team, I really enjoyed the environment. Everyone worked hard in practice while also having fun. Even though I was new, everyone was nice and I felt really included. I look forward to playing in such a positive and supportive environment.
Q: How did you get started in soccer ?
I come from a family that’s really big into soccer, so my parents signed me up for Timbits Soccer when I was three years old. I’ve been playing ever since.
Q: What is your style of play?
I like to have the ball at my feet and really control the play. I look for forward passes and chances to attack and often am the one to play the final ball.
Q: Is there a professional soccer player that you model your game after?
Kevin de Bruyne, the centre attacking mid for Man City. He’s a very creative player who’s not afraid to make forward runs, play a difficult forward ball, or take a shot from distance.
Q: Describe your strengths and some areas for improvement:
On the field, I find that I’m good at controlling the play with my passing and movement. I also have good vision, and can play a difficult final ball. I think that I can improve on being louder and more vocal on the field, as well as be more confident when taking chances to shoot from distance.
Q: Which academic program will you be studying and why is that of interest to you?
I’ll be studying biomedical engineering. Since I was young, I’ve always loved math and science, so engineering feels like the perfect fit. Also, I’ve always wanted to go into a career that allows me to help people, and this program is perfect to allow me to do that.
Q: What extra-curricular activities do you enjoy?
I enjoy doing Taekwondo; I’ve achieved my black belt and I love to teach young kids and lower belts. I also participate in school sports, like cross country, volleyball and soccer
