3-1 win for Men’s soccer vs. Toronto

Carleton 3, Toronto 1

The Carleton Ravens scored an impressive 3-1 victory over the Toronto Varsity Blues Saturday afternoon.

With the win the Ravens (7-2-3) moved into a two-way tie with Queen’s University for second place in the OUA East.

Walker Smith scored twice, while Julian Piccioli had a spectacular free kick to seal the victory. Smith opened the scoring at the 15th minute, but the lead was short lived as the Blues replied eight minutes later. Early in the second half, Smith managed to regain the lead and Felix Daigle was solid in goal to ensure the victory.

With the Blues pressing Piccioli scored an impressive goal at the 75th minute ending any hope of a Blues comeback.

“It was a solid effort,” said Ravens head coach Sandy Mackie. “This will help keep the team in the hunt for first or second in the OUA.” While he was held off the scoresheet Mackie gave full credit to Braden MacKay for his performance.

Carleton will look to extend its winning streak Sunday afternoon as it takes on the Ryerson Rams, who will be well rested after having Saturday off.
