Accomplishments:

I’ve accomplished many things in soccer, but to this day, my greatest accomplishment is joining the Carleton University Soccer team. It is a dream come true, and although I’ve still got so much to improve, it feels good to see all the hard work pay off.

Q: Why did you decide to attend Carleton?

From a very young age, I’ve always had my eyes on Carleton University as the school I want to attend. Carleton University is a place that gives off a sense of belonging. The Campus and location of the University are also very rare and eye-catching. The University excels academically and athletically. The Ravens soccer team is also very competitive, successful, and prestigious. When I was given the chance to try out, I knew it was a lifetime opportunity that I couldn’t pass up on.

Q: What part about playing for the Ravens soccer team are you most looking forward to?

I am most looking forward to the challenge I now face. I am excited to fight for a starting spot on the team and to win every tournament and game there is. I am a very competitive person and I want to be the best at everything I do. I am also looking forward to the Raven’ soccer team because the coaching staff is very good at what they do. I feel like playing with the Ravens will help me develop as a soccer player in ways I’ve never imagined. This soccer team is very renowned and I’m very excited for what’s to come.

Q: How did you get started in soccer?

I was born in Egypt, where soccer is a big sport. From a young age, I had been very invested in watching soccer. It wasn’t until I moved to Canada back in 2010 where I decided to pursue my passion for the sport. Ever since then, I’ve been slowly working my way up from house league, to showcase, and now thankfully one of the most prestigious soccer teams in Canada.

Q: What is your style of play?

I like to play at a very fast pace and high tempo. I also like to attack a lot and get involved in scoring and assisting goals. I like playing like this because I am quite competitive and passionate about the sport. This style of play opens up opportunities to counter-attack and also leads to forcing the opponent into making mistakes that could be capitalized on during games.

Q: Is there a professional soccer player that you model your game after?

A player that I try to model my game after is Dani Alves. He has a huge presence when it comes to attacking, but he is also one of the best defensively. He is a player who goes the extra step and does the little things that end up giving his team the edge every game. I aspire to achieve his work ethic on and off the ball.

Q: Describe your strengths and some areas for improvement:

My main strengths include my positioning and anticipation of play. I am a very tactically aware player. I like to use the situation around me to my advantage. I am always scanning the field and looking to put myself in the best possible position. I am also a quick player and, therefore, I like to make many runs to try and break lines and create space for my teammates. Two areas that I intend to improve on would be overall strength and vertical jump. I realize that I am not a naturally tall person so I want to make sure I focus on the things I can impact. If I can drastically improve on those two areas, I feel like I can become an overall more complete player.

Q: Which academic program will you be studying and why is that of interest to you?

I will be studying International Business this fall. This program interests me because I am a problem solver. I have always been interested in understanding the different aspects that can make a business successful. I am very excited to get started this Fall

Q: What extra-curricular activities do you enjoy?

I love spending time with my family as they are the most important thing to me. I like to explore new hobbies and try new things whenever I can.

From a very young age, I’ve always had my eyes on Carleton University as the school I want to attend. Carleton University is a place that gives off a sense of belonging.
