Two Ravens rowers have been named to Team Ontario to compete at this year’s Canada Summer Games.  Team Ontario’s rower selection took place over the June 24-25 weekend in Welland, Ontario and Carleton’s Mary-Jo Weir Weiss (Ottawa, ON)  and Hunter Amesbury (Burlington, ON) have earned a seat on the women’s and men’s sweep rowing team. In sweep oared boats, each athlete pulls on one oar whereas sculling each rower must pull on two oars.

The host city for this year’s Canada Summer Games is Winnipeg, Manitoba.  However, the rowing venue for the games will be in Kenora, Ontario.  The games are to take place from July 29 to August 12, 2017.

Jamie Bell, who will be joining the Ravens’ Rowing staff this fall as a coach for the women’s program, will also be participating at the Canada Summer Games as the coach of Team Ontario’s lightweight women’s sculling team.
