Two Ravens Rowers represented Canada in the 2018 FISU World University Rowing Championship this past weekend in Shanghai, China. Mikayla Arends competed in the women’s 8+ and Hunter Amesbury with the heavy men’s 4. Amesbury also participated in the FISU games in 2016. He knows a thing or two about above average rowing.
The racing began Friday August 10th with Hunter and the men’s four as they finished first in their heat over USA, sending them straight to the finals on Sunday. They secured 4th place in the final race.
Arends and the women’s 8+ also raced in the prelim’s on Friday, which sent them to the final on Sunday. They took home a silver medal, falling only behind Great Britain.
Hunter and Mikayla will look to ride this momentum heading into the 2018-19 Ravens Rowing season.
